Barracuda Coatings is Scott Tidwell and Doug Day. We are based in The Hammock, between Palm Coast and Flagler Beach, and we coat concrete from Daytona Beach up to St. Augustine. When you call, one of us picks up. When we quote your floor, one of us looked at it.
The name is not decoration. A barracuda is fast, built for salt water, and not especially interested in being decorative. That is roughly the brief we gave ourselves.
Plenty of coating companies will drive down here from Orlando or Jacksonville for a job. The difference shows up eighteen months later, when a slab that reads dry in February is pushing moisture in August and nobody is around to answer for it. We live on the same coast as your floor. Salt air, afternoon storms, and slab on grade construction are our normal conditions, not an away game.
It also means we know the neighborhoods. A 1980s garage in Ormond Beach, a new build off Belle Terre, and a barrier island lanai in Crescent Beach are three genuinely different jobs, and treating them the same is how coatings fail.
We diamond grind. Every time. Acid etching is faster and cheaper and it is the single most common reason a coating lets go of a Florida slab. We test for moisture before we spec a system, because on a slab on grade that number decides which basecoat goes down.
We install three flake systems, built on epoxy, polyurea, and polyaspartic basecoats. They carry the same published test numbers, the same polyaspartic topcoat, and the same price, so which one you get is a decision about your concrete rather than your budget. The full comparison is here.
Our coatings and materials are American-made. That was a deliberate choice and it is worth what it costs.
We will not coat over a failing floor and call it done. We will not quote a slab we have not seen. We will not tell you a competitor is a crook to win a job, and we will not pretend one resin family is magic. If your floor is not a good candidate, we will say so.
